Printing Inks

Pearlescent pigments are available for use in printing inks, similar to conventional pigments. There are various types of pearl pigments to choose from, depending on the particle size range, and the selection should be tailored to the specific printing process. Pearl inks can be easily prepared by incorporating fine pearl pigments into the ink medium.

The concentration of pearl pigments in the ink medium varies based on the printing process and the item to be printed:

Printing Ink Concentration

  • Gravure ink 10-20%
  • Screen ink 5-20%
  • Offset ink 30%

Remarks: Pre-mixing fine pearl pigments with a small amount of binder from the ink medium can lead to better dispersibility and printability.
